The owner of this Scout 380 LXF initially opted for a ceramic coating on the hull. While ceramic coatings offer some level of protection, they can often fall short in the demanding marine environment. He ultimately chose Hull Pro as a more robust solution to protect his vessel when he stores it on a boat lift.

Why choose Hull Pro over ceramic coatings?

VIP Treasure Coast Mobile Detailing was contracted to replace the existing ceramic coating on the Scout with Hull Pro. They were also the detailers who did the original ceramic coating on the Scout. The owner wanted a more robust protection for his vessel hull, as he stores his boat on a lift year-round when it’s not in the water. Hull Pro is the ideal choice for hull protection over ceramic.

  • SUPERIOR LONGEVITY

Hull Pro offers unparalleled durability and longevity compared to ceramic. Its robust protective layer shields your hull from the elements, UV rays, and abrasion longer, reducing the need for frequent reapplications.

    EASE OF MAINTENANCE

Unlike ceramic coatings that require meticulous care and regular reapplication, Hull Pro is designed for low maintenance. This means less time spent on cleaning and upkeep, allowing you to focus on enjoying your boat.

  • ENHANCED PROTECTION

Hull Pro provides comprehensive protection for your hull, safeguarding it against surface damage and impact. It acts as a reliable barrier against the harsh marine environment.

    BOAT LIFT COMPABILITY

Hull Pro is specially formulated to protect your hull form UV and impact, making it an ideal choice for boat owners who frequently use boat lifts, as it guards against chipping and impact damage during the lifting and lowering process.

Hull Pro goes beyond protection; it can enhance your boat's performance. Its hydrophobic properties reduce water resistance, leading to improved fuel efficiency and a smoother, more enjoyable ride on the water.

NO CHIPPING AND FADING ON BOAT LIFTS: SCOUT 380 LXF

prepping the hull and removing the ceramic coating

Having been in the industry for years, VIP Treasure Coast really knows their stuff. They gave the Scout an acid bath for 24 hours, and rough-scuffed the ceramic-coated hull below the waterline. After scuffing, the Scout’s hull was cleaned with Acetone and allowed to dry.

Before full-scale application, VIP Treasure Coast did a spot application to ensure the scuffed surface wouldn’t reject Hull Pro, and it didn’t!

Application then proceeded according to our usual application instructions. Two coats of Hull Pro were applied before full curing for an ultra-smooth high-gloss finish.

Easier to maintain than ceramic coatings

We can agree that ceramic-coated hulls are gorgeous, however vessels are exposed to harsh conditions such as UV exposure, saltwater, impact against docks and more. Over time, these factors can damage and degrade ceramic coatings.Ceramic coatings also do not protect a vessel’s hull from fouling growth, and cleaning a ceramic-coated hull can be a bit more time-consuming.

Ceramic hulls require pre-soaking, scrubbing, and cleaning agents, and a regular cleaning schedule in order to maintain. Ceramic finishes also make minor scratches and imperfections more easily visible.

Hull Pro-protected hulls also require regular maintenance, however our nano-formulation allows for a stronger resistance to impact and damage and its ultra-smooth finish acts as a fouling-release barrier, making cleaning easier with just a power wash, or a quick scrub and scrape.

Skip the chemicals, let Hull Pro protect your vessel instead!
