POLYTEC RESTORATION WITH HULL PRO, REPLACING PPF WITH REAL PROTECTION
Personal watercraft like the Sea-Doo GTI 170 are built for fun—but frequent beaching and rough storage can leave hulls scratched and dulled over time. This GTI 170 was no exception. With its Polytec plastic hull showing deep wear, the Armus Brazil team began the restoration process by thoroughly cleaning the surface and wiping it down with acetone to remove any contaminants. This step was critical to ensure Hull Pro could bond properly to the substrate.
Once applied, Hull Pro immediately enhanced the look of the Jet Ski. Its high-gloss finish helped restore visual depth and clarity to the dull plastic. More impressively, Hull Pro filled in many of the shallow scratches on the Polytec hull, visibly reducing surface defects and helping prevent future abrasion. Thanks to its hard, slick finish, this PWC can now better resist damage from future beachings and dock contact.
The owner of the Sea-Doo GTI 170 was no stranger to hull protection. For years, he relied on paint protection film (PPF) to shield his jet skis from beaching scars and hull abrasions. But while PPF performed well above the waterline, it failed where it mattered most: near the keel and waterline, where constant submersion and friction caused it to peel off prematurely. After repeated replacements and mounting frustration, the owner sought a better solution—and found it in Hull Pro.After seeing Hull Pro’s ultra-durable, hydrophobic finish in action, the choice was clear.
Unlike PPF, Hull Pro chemically bonds to the hull and won’t delaminate with use. It filled in light scratches on the GTI’s Polytec hull, restored its gloss, and added long-term resilience against future beaching and UV exposure. With the bonus of up to 3% in speed gains and visible cosmetic improvement, the owner has decided to ditch PPF entirely and use Hull Pro across all his current and future jet skis.
