On July 24, Armus revisited a Stuart 27 which had been previously coated with Hull Pro. The purpose of this visit was to perform a reset cleaning, a crucial maintenance step for vessels that are pulled that have fallen behind on cleaning, require service or have maintenance scheduled. This case study highlights the effectiveness of Armus Hull Pro's fouling-release properties, the significance of regular hull maintenance, and provides insights into the cleaning process.

IS HULL PRO RIGHT FOR YOU?

Hull Pro is not for everyone. If you’re not taking care of your Hull Pro coating, it won’t take of your vessel. We have a detailed Post-Application Care Guide that we highly recommend users follow. For those who are willing to perform regular maintenance weekly to 10-days apart, and depending on water type, up to 3 weeks between cleanings, Hull Pro is the best solution for your vessel.

If you’re considering Hull Pro, here are four key factors to help you decide if Hull Pro is right for you:

  • REGULAR CLEANING REQUIRED

Hull Pro is not a bottom paint. This means, in order to enjoy the benefits of fuel economy and an increase in speed, regular cleaning and maintenance is required. Cleaning frequency depends on your rate of growth and your region.

    REGULAR HULL MAINTENANCE

Hull Pro is most effective when used in conjunction with a commitment to regular hull maintenance and cleaning. It's essential to adhere to recommended cleaning schedules and best practices to ensure the coating's longevity and effectiveness.

  • PERFORMANCE BENEFITS

If you're looking to increase your vessel speed and save on fuel costs, Hull Pro can do that for you! Extra savings are great for everyone, and we've seen customers save up to 17% on fuel!

    LONG-LASTING FORMULATION

Hull Pro offers the advantage of extended coating longevity without the need for frequent reapplication. It remains intact even during routine cleaning, reducing the overall maintenance burden on vessel owners.

The Importance of Regular Maintenance:

Regular hull maintenance is paramount to preserving both the aesthetics and functionality of your vessel when using Hull Pro. Maintaining a clean hull is essential for safeguarding structural integrity. A clean hull minimizes drag, optimizing fuel efficiency and vessel speed.

Constant upkeep plays a pivotal role in extending the lifespan of the Hull Pro coating, reducing the need for frequent reapplication and providing long-term cost savings. If there is no physical damage to your vessel from impact, reapplication of our coating isn’t necessary!

Before Cleaning

The reset cleaning process PERFORMANCE BENEFITS

During the reset cleaning, the Stuart 27 was hauled from the water, and two hours later, the cleaning process began. It is much easier to clean your vessel when it is still submerged, or when it has been recently pulled from the water. This way, the biofilm and any fouling is still wet and can be removed more easily.

A silicone scraper was used to remove the biofilm that had accumulated on the hull. The silicone scraper enables smooth and damage-free removal of growth without the need for excessive pressure. Because it is silicone, the scraper possesses strength and flexibility, ensuring that it causes no damage to the Hull Pro coating or the vessel’s hull. It is the same tool recommended for divers when scraping a vessel that remains in the water.

For more stubborn barnacles and organic growth, we used a 3M white scouring pad, which is gentle yet effective. Minimal pressure was required to eliminate and loosen stubborn growth.

Both the silicone scraper and the white scouring pad proved highly efficient in quickly removing fouling and soft growth without damage to the Hull Pro coating.

BENEFITS OF CLEANING A HULL PRO-COATED VESSEL

This reset cleaning showcased that Armus Hull Pro's coating remained intact and undamaged throughout the process. It is important to note that Hull Pro does not require reapplication unless there is physical damage to the coating from impact.

Hull Pro's durable epoxy formulation significantly simplifies the cleaning process and contribute to a well-maintained vessel. However, responsible vessel ownership necessitates adherence to a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the longevity and performance of the Hull Pro coating.

If these factors align with your needs, Hull Pro is the right choice for your vessel.
